Early automated LipSync test for PlayStation2: Rigging and Facial Animation processing)

This was just something funny I found on an old hard drive. It's probably 20 years old and the first face rig I did back in the early days of Maya. I think I used PuppetWerks software for the auto lip syncing, but can't remember, it was forever ago. The face is 866 tris, and uses 26 joints, including tongue, eyes and blinks. I wasted several I know, but I thought it turned out pretty good for the time and being for a PlayStation2 game. The audio is from The Simpsons, and I thought it would be a good (and funny) test case. Model by: Peter Walters

Funny little Homer Simpson quote test run through the auto lipSync tool, which I thought looked pretty good for 20 years old.

Joints and topology. I wasted quite a few joints, it was my first face rig.

The facial setup used for this guy in Maya created 20 years ago. 866 tris in the face mesh and 26 joints for everything including tongue, eyes, and blinks. Model by: Peter Walters

All of the phonemes used, I believe this was the larger set that PuppetWerks used at the time.
