Six Days in Fallujah: Metahumans & Hair Tool

I worked at Highwire Games as a Sr. Character Technical Artist/Animator and was primarily responsible to converting the entire character system over from a custom rig/mesh, to one based on Metahumans. This involved creating tools for transferring hair, beards, moustaches and eyebrows from one character to another. This was needed since characters were created in UE5, then transferred to UE4. Also created cloth, animated bandage wrapping, and skinned all meshes for the custom/random character generator.

I wrote this script to transfer hair from one Metahuman to another. I broke down the stages in this video for the team, but it is actually a single button push for everything. Just select the head, then hair, and run the script and it does everything.

Another example showing all of the LODs and how they can be transferred from any Metahuman to any other using blendshapes. Once a new head is used, you can delete history on the hair, or copy it for use on the new head, and delete all of the tool joints.
